Screening of 'TOKYO Ainu' & Discussion of Ainu Issues in English

'TOKYO Ainu' was directed by Hiroshi Moriya (森谷博) and portrays the lives of a group of Ainu people in the urban sprawl of Greater Tokyo. This film interviews a number of Ainu people going about their daily lives and explores their fight for recognition as an Indigenous People of Japan and as a distinct ethnic minority in Tokyo.

Following the screening of this documentary, there will be a discussion on Ainu-related issues in English. Everybody is invited to participate in discussions and raise any questions they have on: Ainu culture, Wajin/Ainu relations, Ainu traditions and practices, and the Ainu language.
