calling naturalness into question
The course aims to call into question and critically rethink those mainstream concepts and values tacitly held as natural (e.g. all human languages are spoken; disability is a personal tragedy, etc.) through alternative viewpoints provided by Deaf Studies, Disability Studies, etc.

Education: Doctor's Course, Division of English and American Literature, Department of Literature, Graduate School of Letters, Hokkaido University (04/1984--03/1987). Professional experience: Rakuno Gakuen University, Lecturer (04/1987--03/1992); Hokkaido University, Lecturer (04/1992--09/1994), Associate professor (10/1994--present).
