If you completed (or are currently enrolled in) the Hokkaido University Graduate School of International Media and Communication, and Tourism Studies or Graduate School of International Media and Communication, and require any related certificates, you can request to have them printed according to the guidelines listed below.
Please note that applications are not accepted by telephone, FAX, or email.

1. Request Method

(1) When applying in person (Office hours: 8:30-17:00 on weekdays)

Please fill out and submit the Request for Certificate Issuance at the counter.
Note: Certificates cannot be issued on the same day. You can pick up your certificate at the counter two days later (one week later for English certificates). Please bring your ID card or other means of identification at that time. If you wish to receive your certificate by mail, please bring a self-addressed and stamped envelope. Please see the next section for postage costs.

(2) When applying by mail (domestic).

Please send the request form (below), a copy of your ID (driver's license, health insurance card, etc.), and a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
Note: Please refer to the following page and the Japan Post website to check the postage required.

  • Approximate weight per certificate
    Certificate of completion, Certificate of degree conferral, etc.: 6 g.
    Transcript (Sealed): 10 g.
    Note: Since English versions often run to two pages, please allow for excess.
  • Approximate weight of envelopes
    Standard Cho-3 (120 mm x 235 mm), accepts A4 paper folded in thirds: approx. 5 g.
    Nonstandard Kaku-2 (240 mm x 332 mm), accepts A4 paper flat: approx. 16 g.
    Note: Transcripts do not fit in Cho-4 envelopes.

Note: When requesting certificates from overseas
In principle, we cannot send certificates overseas. If you need a certificate while overseas, please have it sent to a family member, friend, or acquaintance in Japan on your behalf.

2. Number of days required for issuance after receipt of request documents (excluding Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, and New Year holidays):

  • (Japanese) Certificate of Completion, Transcript, Certificate of Enrollment, Credit Transcripts: Around 2 days
  • (English) Certificate of Completion, Transcript, Certificate of Enrollment, Credit Transcripts: Around 1 week
  • (Japanese/English Bilingual) Certificate of Degree Conferral (only for doctoral degree program graduates): Around 2 days
  • Professional teaching certificates, etc.: Around 1 week

3. Caution:

  • Same-day issuance is not possible. Please allow extra time when requesting.
  • Postage cannot be reimbursed. (We do not accept COD postage requests.)
  • Current students can obtain a certificate from the ACM (Automatic Certificate Machine) on campus.
