Explore interraction between "heritage" conservation and tourism in Asia
What is 'heritage'? The aim of this course is to apply analyses to new currents of heritage studies from some academic points of view including architecture, archaeology, politics, cultural anthropology, sociology and history. Students will acquire knowledge and framework necessary for examining social and cultural factors and elements behind mechanisms and structures for international cooperation for cultural heritage.
Brief Outline of History & Achievements
MA and PhD degree in Area Studies, Sophia University, Tokyo. Research Fellow at Tokyo National Research Institute for Cultural Properties from 2006 to 2010, and Nara National Research Institute for Cultural Properties from 2010 to 2015. Main publications are include ‘Japanese International Cooperation on Cultural Heritage in ASEAN: Myanmar and the EWCC Project’ (Mamoru Shibayama. (ed.), The Ancient East-West Corridor of Mainland of Southeast Asia, Geoinfomatics International, 2019), ‘Conservation of Cultural Heritage and Local Identity: A Case in Northeast Thailand’ (Conservation Changing Societies: Heritage and Development, KUL, 2006) and, etc.
