Anthropology of tourism

Class Content

Observe individual cases and infer the whole.

Tourism is a typical phenomenon that causes the global movement of people, goods, money, and services. It is no exception, even in places that classical anthropology has called“primitive society”.I am sure that you have felt the influence of tourism in your research field.
In this lecture, we will actively discuss the "issues" that you have discovered in the field. Rather than dismissing these problems as "individual phenomena," we will compare them with existing works in anthropology and ethnography, as well as with other students' case studies where we can find connections. The purpose of this lecture is to look at the "whole" through the process of exploring the connections between individual fields.
