Conference presentations are an important academic activity for publicizing research results and receiving objective outside evaluation. With our school's physical location, and the tendency for academic conferences to take place in distant locations like Tokyo, students face particular financial burdens from the expense of travel and attendance. We at IMCTS have established a Grant-in-Aid for Young Scientists system to help cover part of the expenses for graduate students who have been selected to present at a national or international academic conference. Many of our students have been able to present in public with help from this program. We highly encourage you to take advantage of it and present at conferences yourself.

In addition, post-doctoral students who wish to pursue a research career after earning a doctoral degree at our graduate school can apply for a temporary assistant professor position with the Research Faculty of Media and Communication to support their career development. Several of our doctoral graduates have worked as these assistant professors, and have been hired as full time faculty members here or at other institutions after achieving further success during their temporary tenure.
