The Master's Program

*All the admission documents that are necessary for enrollment will be sent to the address written on the application form submitted by each applicant by registered mail (or by EMS for those who reside outside Japan). In case of address change, please notify the change immediately to Academic affairs section, Graduate School of International Media, Communication, and Tourism Studies (IMCTS), Hokkaido University.
*Those who passed the entrance exam in February for either the master's or the doctoral program have a very short period of time to file their application for a certificate of eligibility for resident status. Make sure that you do not miss the submission deadline for the application.

*After notification of acceptance, the successful applicants will be informed of the following.

Supporters of international students

International students will be assisted by international student supporters at Hokkaido University so that they can start their life and study without difficulty. The student supporters will help new incoming international students by advising them on:
- registering as residents of Sapporo and joining Japan's National Health Insurance
- creating a bank account
- starting life in Sapporo

Dormitory (Japanese graduate students only)

Information on the graduate students' dormitory at Hokkaido University will be sent to Japanese students.

Housing for international graduate students

Information on the university's housing for international graduate students will be sent to international students in February. International doctoral students who start the program in October will receive the same information in August.

Japanese Language Program (international students only)

International students may register for Japanese language courses offered by Hokkaido University to improve their Japanese language proficiency. Information on these courses will be sent to successful applicants before they start the program.
